Standing for long periods, particularly on hard floors, induces fatigue and reduces productivity. Cold and damp underfoot conditions will also increase standing discomfort. For staff dealing with aircraft wheels at British Airways' engineering/maintenance facility within Heathrow airport, this problem has been overcome by equipping each work station with a module of Zed Chex to provide anti fatigue relief and to create a resilient underfoot surface. This helps to reduce physical problems of progressive bone damage, varicose veins, poor circulation and water retention, as well as back problems.

Multi-purpose vinyl Zed Chex has a tough checker plate design wearing surface which provides high slip resistance and is chemical, oil and acid resistant. The base is constructed with patented high molecular density foam which induces muscle flexing and significantly reduces fatigue. Its inherent resilience will not deaden with use and provides the ideal 'bounce' felt when standing on the mat.

Zed Chex is available in modules with sloping edges or in rolls up to 18m long and 91cm wide. Zed Chex Plus is the visual safety option with bright yellow edges.

Samples and details of the full range of anti fatigue mattings are available from Plastic Extruders Ltd (tel 01268 571116) or visit www.plastexmatting.com
