Crossgrip safety matting has recently been installed on the roofs of two buildings which both serve airports - The Heathrow/Windsor Marriott Hotel at Langley, near Slough, and at Manchester Airport.

At Manchester Airport, Project managers DTZ appointed contractors Weatherproofing Advisors to repair some areas of the roof of office building '4M'. It has been refurbished with Crossgrip matting to provide safe walkways used for maintenance and to provide access to the rooftop services. Here, the matting's deeply etched open grid surface provides permanent high slip resistance even in the worst weather conditions.

Near Heathrow Airport, the 371- Windsor Marriott Hotel has recently undergone a £5 million refurbishment. Here, the same matting has been installed by MPB Waterproofing. This is laid on the bitumen roof embedded with solar-reflective stones and is strong enough to cope with the impact of the stones’ sharp edges.

Crossgrip is specially designed to provide permanent and all weather safe walkways on flat roofs and as slip resistant access on construction and civil engineering projects, gantries and other high level and exposed sites.

The matting is self-draining, resistant to bacterial growth and maintenance free. Because of its flexible construction, it is easy to lay and contour and, as wind tunnel tests prove, remains in position even in hurricane force winds. The matting is supplied in 10m rolls and standard widths of 60, 91 and 122cm.
